Following his father and grandfather into the industry, Mark has 30+ years of insurance experience advising both corporate & professional clients. Having owned a brokerage, Mark joined forces with MFL in 2018 and became our CEO in 2019. Mark's ethos is "the client comes first", which he instils in every member of MFL. He still gets a buzz from getting into the nuts & bolts of a client's business operations to ensure that the insurances sourced are the most competitive and comprehensive. Whilst family and dogs keep Mark busy away from work. As an ex-rugby player, Mark loves nothing better than the excuse of attending a sporting occasion with others to partake in a few beverages.

With over 52 years of experience in the Insurance Sector, Kevin, as Managing Director, was a founder of the Company in 1997 along with John Finn, now retired. He is looking forward to our 25th Anniversary later this year. Kevin is now pleased to be taking a step back and, as Executive Chairman, is dealing with a different set of challenges. Being extremely robust in his desire for the Company to remain independent, he is restructuring it to ensure Succession for the next generation and beyond. Kevin played football for Huddersfield Collegians in the Yorkshire Old Boys League for over 20 years and is now a regular visitor to the John Smith’s stadium in Huddersfield to watch the Town games.

Richard is our Client Director within the Professional Services/Broking division having specialised in Professional Indemnity Insurance since 1996 having undertaken a variety of broking and underwriting roles within that time. Outside of the working environment, interests include sport generally, including local coaching and administrative positions at various points in time.

Mark heads up our Science and Technology division, working with new start-ups and established businesses. Having worked in the insurance industry across underwriting and sales for over 35 years, and with MFL since 2003, Mark’s experience is invaluable in designing insurance programmes for technology, gaming, science and life-sciences throughout the different development stages of your idea, product or business. He is a qualified Chartered Insurance Broker and an Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute. Away from the office, Mark enjoys family time, watching football, cricket and playing golf.

Joe is our Underwriting Director, responsible for managing & administering our insurance schemes and our Delegated Authority Agreements, including those bespoke arrangements for members of Professional Associations. Joe’s career mirrors that of the business, too. Having started with MFL in 1997, he has taken great pride in watching MFL become successful. His skills and reputation with insurers give us the authority to write business on their behalf – something insurers don’t give away to everyone. A lifelong Manchester United fan, and season ticket holder with his son, he now understands what his Manchester City friends must have felt like growing up! Besides football, Joe loves spending time with his family and friends, going for walks and trying new restaurants.

Darren joined us in 2007, having found his niche in insurance after completing his Law degree but deciding against a traditional legal career. He now heads up our Claims & Risk Management team. His experience and knowledge mean he is ideally placed to support clients and the wider team when a client has a claim, a contract review requirement or a risk management need. Darren's client-first approach means he is always looking at ways to develop himself and his team to help clients to the best of their abilities. Darren is also a film buff and can be useful in a pub quiz, but is utterly useless on sports questions.

Insurance runs through Dan’s blood after following his dad into the industry in 2010. Dan’s character makes him a perfect fit to be our Broking and Operations Director, where he always puts the client first. Dan team’s share the same values, too; ensuring a thorough understanding of clients’ needs and leveraging key relationships with insurers. The industry recognised Dan’s client-first philosophy after winning Young Broker of the Year 2019 and Youngest ACII Completion in the Manchester Institute in 2018. Alongside his beloved Leicester City, his main hobby is spending quality time with his wife and two children.

Michaela is our Finance Manager and forms part of the Senior Management Team. As a CIMA qualified management accountant, Michaela’s experience across different industries has allowed her to build and manage account teams in complex and highly regulated sectors. She is a keen advocate of inter-departmental communication and makes it her mission to encourage collaboration between departments to create efficiencies for a better client experience. In her spare time, Michaela enjoys fell running (especially in muddy conditions), which is reflected in her bruised knees from all the falls and skiing in winter. She is also passionate about cooking and baking, and is not afraid of trying more obscure dishes when travelling.

Claire has worked in compliance for 20 years+, worked with a variety of financial services firms providing compliance and regulatory support and helping firms manage risk. Outside of work Claire loves nothing more than spending time with my children and horse riding.

Chris began his insurance career in 1997 at his father’s broking firm, laying the foundation for a deep and enduring expertise in professional and financial risks. Over the years, he has developed a particular focus on the construction sector, working closely with professionals such as architects, engineers, landscape architects, and garden designers. With experience spanning from sole practitioners to multinational firms with global insurance programs, Chris brings a wealth of technical knowledge and a strong commitment to delivering consistently high levels of client service. As Director of the Affinity Team at MFL, Chris leads the development of tailored insurance solutions for professional associations. His work ensures that membership bodies receive added value and that their members are comprehensively protected. Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Diploma in Financial Services (Insurance Broking). Outside of work, he’s a passionate McLaren Formula One fan and enjoys travelling with his family.

Andy has worked in insurance for over 10 years, starting his career as an apprentice straight from college. Since joining MFL, Andy has brought invaluable insurance knowledge, across a wide range of insurance products within the General Insurance space.  Andy assists clients in many different industries to ensure they find the most suitable insurance cover for their program. Outside of work, Andy can be found watching football, enjoying a round of golf or walking the  dogs.
